When attacked by enemies, you may have a defense card in your hand to reduce or avoid attacks directed at you. These cards can be used at any time, from the start of the attack until the damage is calculated and applied, allowing you to avoid harmful attacks or effects.

Since these cards are rare and can only be used once during the game, it is important to use them at the right time. But with too many defense cards in your hand, you won’t be able to get powerful skills or items since you can only have a limited number of cards in hand. This is why hand management is so important in Hellbringer.
